CIRCA 1880 SARGENT EASTLAKE ENTRY MORTISE LOCK with KEY - PUSH BUTTON (7631). This mortise lock has been reconditioned and keyed, vintage SARGENT that is very heavy, with a beautiful Eastlake desgin in the heavy brass faceplate.
The lock comes with one key for the bottom key slot and works great from either side of the door. The lock accommodates a 5/16 standard split shaft knob post.
The box is 3 1/2" deep from the back of the faceplate and 4 3/4" high. The heavy solid brass faceplate on the Sargent mortise lock measures 7" long and it is 1 1/8" wide and the double layered face plate is 1/8 thick. The setback distance from the front edge of the faceplate to the center of the knob post hole is 2 7/8. The screw holes are on 6 1/4 centers.This is a very well made heavy push button lock. Great old houses deserve to be adorned with great old hardware that reflects the quality of workmanship early America embodied. For that matter new houses built to look old should have the best hardware available too!
